I think the key is getting up off the valley floors and any drainage areas there is going to be a lot of rain as the atmosphere clears after the changes any place that sits too low will experience flooding. These floods would be equivalent of a 500 - 1000 year flood area and I believe the current flood plane designation is the 100 year flood. So you just have to look to the natural terrain and determine a good spot. When looking at the hills many of the locals can tell you a lot about the soil types in the different areas to make sure you don't put yourself on a hill and then have it slide. I know when I am wandering if I find myself in a spot that feels good I will just sit down and get quiet and ask the earth herself can this spot be properly protected? It is always most accurate in person but I have had success too with using a pendulum to ask the earth about photos of properties that are for sale.
