I agree completely on the drug thing.  I did my fair share of drugs as a teen and early 20 something but even the best of them do not compare to spiritual experiences I had later.  I have had lots of conversations with people who are deeply into mushrooms or peyote and said hey you think this is helping you spiritually but it can only take you to a certain level and that it then you are there at that level indefinitely for as long as you choose to take the drug.  I have tried to explain that if they like that they will really love the high they can get sober from spiritual experience  Unfortunately they think they are already having the spiritual experience with the drug
