HARTFORD, Conn. -- A toddler cereal sold in Connecticut has been found to contain high levels of a pesticide, according to the Department of Consumer Protection.

DCP Commissioner Jerry Farrell warned that consumers should not eat Nestle's Farinha Lactea toddler cereal. The cereal is imported from Brazil and distributed by Brex American of Miami.

Farrell said the cereal was initially discovered by department food inspectors as a mislabeled item at the Mercearia Brasil market in Danbury. Samples of the cereal were tested by the Connecticut Agriculture Experiment Station and found to contain the pesticide pirimiphos-methyl. He said that 201 containers were removed from the store
